This is the most informed, spot on, well written piece on Muldaur I’ve ever read. And not just for championing two overlooked albums (which I own). To paraphrase your words, you provide deep insight into the ways Muldaur’s varied musical forms are connected.
PS: Gospel Nights was issued on CD in ‘87 as a Takoma 2-fer w/ John Fahey’s Yes, Jesus Loves Me
Please forgive my delay in responding to this incredibly kind message! Thank you so much! Maria is one of the greatest artists of our lifetime and writing this was definitely a passion project for me.
Yes re: Gospel Nights on CD--unfortunately, they cut a few of the tracks to fit it on the CD with John Fahney's album. Here's hoping the good folks at Ace Records (who now own the Takoma masters) will give us a digital reissue of the full album, at the very least!
