So salutary to have this transatlantic perspective on a strain of American Christianity that has always been there but has become oppressively dominant. What a brilliant artist Sheila is, like all the people you write about with the courage to live her/the Gospel deeply and directly.

Thank you Elizabeth! Looking back on these perspectives proves to be more and more important. Noting that there was direct critique of the powers that were building is good to know--even if the critiques were in the minority. I hope more people will re-visit Sheila's music and hear it through the lens she provided us with her own words back in 1984!

Yes. When I finish the New York Community Choir book (this year!), I will begin actively writing the book about the women of Contemporary Christian Music. It began (as did the New York Community Choir book) as an undergraduate thesis and the work has never really stopped on it since then. I'm excited to begin writing it! Know that I will keep you posted and aware!
